WORKSHOP

Workshop on Sustainability through Chemical Education

Conducted by Prof. Dr. Rafia Azmat and Dr. Ailyan Saleem

This workshop will be conducted under the benchmark of Chem Publishers. Its purpose is to bring students closer to understanding, adapting to, and embracing the subject of chemistry for the sustainability of the earth. This workshop will emphasize the essentiality of chemistry for ECH and try to remove the distance between chemistry and the young generation as, according to multiple surveys, an alarming trend is emerging, particularly in third-world countries, where students are distancing themselves from chemistry. This workshop aims to bridge the gap between students and the fascinating world of chemistry.

From Research to Patent

Filing a patent and its subsequent commercialization are critical steps in transforming research into tangible products or services that can benefit society. The journey begins with research, where scientists, engineers, and innovators explore new ideas and develop unique solutions to existing problems. When this research results in a novel invention—something that is new, non-obvious, and useful The next step is to protect this intellectual property by filing a patent. A patent grants the inventor exclusive rights to the invention, preventing others from making, using, or selling it without permission. This protection typically lasts 20 years from the filing date, providing a critical window for the inventor to capitalize on their innovation.

The Patent Filing Process
Filing a patent involves several key steps:
1. Documentation: Thoroughly document the invention, including how it works and what
makes it unique.
2. Patent Search: Conduct a comprehensive search to ensure the invention is indeed novel
and hasn’t been patented by someone else.
